Training & Workshops
I run practical UX and service design training for product teams. Sessions are workshops, so people spend most of the time doing the work rather than watching slides. Wherever possible we use your product, your users and your constraints as the material.
Nearly 15 years of research and design practice sits behind the content, including work with Meta, Sony PlayStation, NatWest, Google and BT. I also guest lecture on UX and Service Design at Ulster University.
There are two ways to book.
-
I come to your office and train your team. Full day, half day or evening sessions, anywhere in the UK or Ireland. Content is shaped around what your team is working on at the time, based on a conversation before the session.
Best if you have four or more people who share the same problem.
-
Full-day workshops for groups of four to six, open to anyone. These generally run in London, Dublin and Belfast. Small groups mean everyone gets time on their own work and their own questions.
Best if you are a team of one or two, a freelancer, or you want to send a couple of people without booking a whole day.
What a session looks like
A full day usually runs 09:30 to 16:30, with two breaks and an hour for lunch. Roughly a third of the time is content and two thirds is exercises, discussion and applying the method to your own work.
You get:
A short pre-session conversation to shape the content
Exercises run on your product or service, not on a fictional case study
A workbook and any templates used on the day
A follow-up email with references, further reading, and answers to anything we did not get to
weeks of email access afterwards for questions as people apply it
What I need from you:
Access to your product, prototype or service, whichever is relevant
Ideally, a real problem the team is currently stuck on
Who it is for
Training works best for:
Product teams who commission or run research and want it to be more useful
Designers and product managers doing research alongside their main job
Junior researchers who learned on the job and have gaps they know about
Founders and small teams making decisions without much evidence
It is probably not the right fit if:
You want certification or an accredited qualification. I do not offer one.
You need a large lecture for thirty or more people. The format depends on small groups.
You want a tools course. I teach method and judgement, not how to drive a particular piece of software.
